The tour is appropriate for the 5 – 9 year old age group, and adults. The tour is not really suitable for children under the age of five, or for children who need strollers.

The VIP Tour lasts for about four hours, and costs about $75 per hour for a party of up to ten people. You must book this tour well in advance, or there will be an additional twenty dollar fee. The tour is not recommended for children, but is designed more for people who have a true love and interest in Disney and Disneyland history.

The Welcome to Disneyland Tour is absolutely ideal for first timers. There are many benefits to this tour, including priority seating at one of the stage shows, tips and suggestions for getting the most out of your Disneyland vacation, a brief history of the park, priority seating at one of the many restaurants, instruction in using FastPass, two bonus FastPass tickets, and much more. This tour lasts about two and a half hours, and costs around $25 per person.

A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps focuses on the vision of Walt Whitman, and is not really suitable for small children. Filled with history and trivia about the park, this tour lasts for more than three hours, and costs around $49 per person. The main feature of this tour is your peek at the exclusive Club 33.

Again, you should definitely consider making one of these tours part of your Disneyland experience – especially if this will be your first trip to Disneyland.

Bamford is becoming a very popular and sought after destination for Peak District holidays, and even if you are not staying here during your holiday it is well worthy of a visit if you are in the vicinity of the high moorlands.

More modern than some of the other villages around the area Bamford also has an 18 hole golf course at Sickleholme.

Bamford is a top destination for Holidays in Peak District and also a great place to visit when traveling through the Peaks area.

Located between Sheffield and Manchester, the village is situated in the midst of high moorlands. At the north of the village are the To the west lies Win Hill; and the Derwent river flows right through this lovely village.

This is a village with a lot of history, going back to the Domesday Book. Until 1780, Bamford was a largely agrarian village. However, the corn mill burned and was sold and converted to a water powered cotton mill.

The Howden and Derwent dams were built in 1901 and are a mere seven miles from Bamford, in the upper Derwent valley. A temporary village was built for the workers and their families here, called Birchinlee (but more popularly known as Tin Town due to the construction of the housing).

About 2,000 workers were involved in the dam construction project and to this day, some of their descendents reside here.

Completed in 1945, the Ladybower Reservoir covers over 500 acres downstream of the Derwent dam. When the reservoir was filled, the villages of Derwent and Ashopton were flooded and some of the residents had to be relocated at Yorkshire Bridge. In years of drought conditions, the ruins of Derwent can be seen in the Ladybower Reservoir.

It is precisely these historical attractions and magnificient scenery which draw visitors to Bamford every year for fishing, hiking and biking through the area. There are walking and biking trails surrounding the Derwent, Howden and Ladybower reservoirs which are also ringed by breathtaking scenery.

Built to commemorate the new millennium, the Bamford Touchstone Sculpture Trail comprises a five mile walk around the edge of the village of Bamford. There are maps available to this trail at the village post office, as well as at all of the public houses in Bamford.

Porte d’enfer: the gates of hell

La Porte d’Enfer is a protected cove with calm waters and a small palm-lined beach backed by high limestone cliffs, which give it a uniquely captivating allure. The beach is great for swimming, especially for small children and adventurous travelers can explore the limestone cliffs and surrounding area. This is one of the popular things to do in Guadeloupe.

La Porte d’Enfer is close to Le Moule, so you can tour the town after your visit to the beach. Guadeloupe’s beaches are hardly known for their seclusion, but this beach is a little further from the crowds, making it a perfect spot for some vacationers.

This natural reserve has been protected since 1990 due to intense hunting, which had a detrimental effect on the natural wildlife there. It’s possible to take a tour of the mangroves and learn about this fascinating part of the island.

The Festival of Women Cooks

Aculinary nirvana proclaimed as one of Guadeloupe’s most spectacular events, and usually held in Pointe-б-Pitre in August. The festival features a banquet open to all that lasts for hours, and traditional Creole costume is prevalent. Dancing and parades proceed the event. Belying its dual roots, Creole foods and French foods intermix. Make sure to find in advance the villas to rent for holidays.

Guadeloupe’s largest city is a mix of old and new and is perfectly located between the two main islands, which assisted its development. The market is open every morning and is situated in the center of Pointe-a-Pitre.

Basse-Terre (Low Land)

Despite its name, Basse-Terre is in fact the highest and largest island of Guadeloupe located to the east. It’s rich in wildlife and there is an abundance of things to see and do.

National Park of Guadeloupe

National Park of Guadeloupe (Parc Naturel), which provides around 300km (188 miles) of marked trails leading into the rainforest, where visitors can observe many tropical animals and plants. You can see waterfalls (such as the Cascade aux Ecrevisses) or lakes (such as the Grand Etang). On Grande-Terre, hiking trails lead through the mangrove or along the cliffs of the Atlantic coast.

La Route de la Traversee is the road that crosses through the middle of Basse-Terre and the National Park (Parc National). It’s a gorgeous region surrounded by mountains and forests with several lagoons for swimming and plenty of places to hike. Notably, there is a Zoo with a suspension bridge where you can walk around the forest 15-20 metres above the ground! Cascade aux Ecrevisses is an intimate, picturesque cascade with lots of lush vegetation and a beautiful warm pond with a waterfall where you can swim. It’s well worth the trip as its quite secluded and there is a place where you can have a picnic with tables and chairs etc.

Monticello, an estate located in Virginia, was once the home of the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. He wrote the Declaration of Independence and founded the University of Virginia. The Monticello estate became a World Heritage site in 1987. Today, visitors to the grounds can take a number of different tours. The tour of the house will take you through the bottom floor, where you can see many artifacts and furnishings from when the former president made his home there. Perhaps one of the most exciting things I’ve done in Rome is visited the ruins at Ostia Antica which are some of the best preserved ruins to date. With its impressive Forum, large baths complex and more than one Mithraeum, you will need a good half day or more to walk around the the Ostia ruins at leisure. Great for exploring, these ruins are so detailed that you can really imagine what it would have been like to live in this seaside port. Ostia still boasts impressive mosaics and columns everywhere (statues are mostly taken away for safekeeping), and highlights include the smaller domestic details: the fishmonger’s marble slab, the bar with its wares illustrated on the wall, the communal public toilets and the residential villas with peaceful courtyards. Almost all ruins of Ostia Antica were unearthed in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. The first systematic excavations, initiated by pope Pius VII, were carried out by Petrini in the years 1801-1805.

The best way to reach Ostia is by using the metro. You can leave your accommodation Rome in the morning and be at Ostia within half an hour. Trains leave at station Piramide: get off the regular metro at Piramide, go up the escalator, turn immediately left and down the steps into the Roma-Lido station. Trains also leave at station Magliana, but we advise Piramide: this way you’re sure to find a seat on the train. A normal metro ticket will suffice for the entire journey. You need to alight at the Ostia Antica stop which is about 20minutes from the city. For a more scenic route, Ostia is also reachable by boat. You can buy your ticket to take the boat at the info point located near the Tevere river, in front of Castel San Angelo.

The town of Ostia Lido today is a very different place. A place popular with tourists and young people, Ostia is now a modern, tourist driven resort. Although it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it can’t be denied that it has a very cool party scene during the summer.
