You are probably considering the travel industry as a home based career choice because travel is fun and always in demand. If that is the way you think, you are absolutely right! Starting your own home based travel business requires a little research.

The research is actually pretty simple, and I will tell you exactly what I did to get started; I asked a friend a few questions, and then I went to a timeshare presentation. That’s it! End of research. Now here are the details.

A friend of mine has five kids and he travels to the same beach each year with the whole family. So I asked him, “How much does your resort cost each year?” He did not mind telling me at all that it was around $3,500 for a one week stay each year, plus their travel costs, which were relatively low since they always drove.

I then told him how his family could stay at a higher quality luxury resort for $3,500 this year, and for only $300 to $800 per week each year thereafter, and in a wide variety of higher quality international resorts. That was a real eye opener for him.

Now remember, this was research, and for research reasons alone, the fact that my friend was recently unemployed was a plus, as I knew that he was not in a position to buy a membership right now. He had already booked the family vacation for this year, but was more than glad to know about my discount luxury resort membership, and that he could travel during any week of the year, or even multiple times each year at the same weekly rate.

My conclusion for this research was that I was in the right business. Since this conversation put such a big smile on my friend’s face, I knew that I could help dozens of families with the luxury resort membership that I was selling from my small computer table and extra telephone line at my home office.

Here is research scenario two: I went to a timeshare presentation. I have avoided these for years, because everyone knows that the high pressure sales techniques of the timeshare sales force have turned many a No into a Yes.

True to form, those very nice timeshare sales professionals turned into pit bulls during the course of the presentation. I went through four managers on account of my unyielding No, and they even employed the good cop/bad cop technique on me.

Their last offer was substantially better than the initial offer (from $55,000 down to $14,000), but they mentioned the word ‘upgrade’ way to frequently. There was no getting over the math; timeshare ownership was a substantially inferior investment when compared to the timeshare alternative I was selling from my humble home office.

This was exceptionally valuable information for me. I have never owned a timeshare, but the condo and maintenance fees associated with ownership, compounded by blackout weeks, exchange fees and upgrade charges, really helped me to understand why so many people I know that love to travel have negative feelings toward timeshare ownership.

So there it is. Your research may be a little different, but you get the idea; ask questions and talk to people about their travel habits.

Go to places that may enhance your understanding of the travel industry, such as golf, ski, wilderness or beach resorts, or maybe even a tour of a cruise ship if that is available.

Count the costs, see what customers see, get educated, and then start your own home based travel business.

With facilities and attractions catering for all ages, Nerja is the ultimate family vacation destination.

Nerja is a tourist town on the Costa del Sol that is situated 50km east of Malaga. It is 1 hour 15 minutes from Granada and 30 minutes from the Sierra Nevada. It also boasts a natural amphitheatre that holds concerts in the summer. Other attractions include the nearby mountains, Sierra de Almijara & Sierra Tejeda and the Sierra de Burno that overlooks the town which is challenge for any climber. There is the Natual Park Maro – Cerro Gordo. The town is also the center for Scuba diving in the Costa del Sol.

Also the town receives a lot of its visitors from within Spain unlike other Costa del Sol resorts and from Italy and France. The town still has its old town with its 17th Century Church. Nerja has its annual fiesta in July called the Virgen del Carmen and has an entertaining New Year´s eve.

Compared to other resorts it doesn’t suffer from high rise developments, maintains its charm due to the stunning coast line and is close to the typical white Andalusian villages makes Nerja an interesting option for a few days stay in a villa in nerja or for a longer 2 week stay.

Those with poor planning skills, or a severe shortage of time, often find that a travel vacation package is something that works out very well for them. These are often very easy to find, a bit cheaper than putting everything together separately, and make travel much easier. Those with families often love these because there are a lot of family-orientated packages geared towards the whole family. Finding these is easy, but deciding on the right one is a little harder.

Most of the time, a good travel vacation package spells everything out up front for the person buying the trip. That means you will know exactly what you are getting, and how much it is going to cost you. Families should be careful with all-inclusive packages that do not spell things out. Some find that this means that their travel vacation package includes a few meals, but they are on their own for others. It might not cover most taxes either. This is important to find out.

A travel vacation package does not have to be for families though. There are many out there for couples, and some that are just for honeymoons. Before you take one of these, think about what you are getting for the money. My husband and I took one of these for our honeymoon, and chose one due to the price. This was a mistake. Our honeymoon was a nightmare because of it. You will always find a great travel vacation package, but look into it before you commit your money and your time.

There are always extra expenses attached to any travel vacation package, but some deals are better than others. As long as you understand the cost of your package, plus taxes, and what expenses might still be added once you arrive, you aren’t going to be caught unaware and under prepared.

There is nothing saying that you can’t ask questions before you accept a travel vacation package. If you don’t have the time to do this, you might want to hire a travel agent to find the best deal for you and to fill you in on the details. You can tell them what you need and what you hope to spend, and they will find the best deal they can. It is also a great idea to check up on any location by looking online for reviews from other travelers. Had I done this, I could have avoided a rather rotten honeymoon.

For a pleasant old world train journey take the Lemon Express from Benidorm which takes you to the town of Gata, passing through dozens of lemon and olive groves. The specialty of this town is wicker, so you can buy all sorts of specialist handcrafted decorations, baskets. The tourist train runs on the FGV line between Alicante and Denia and you can easily access the train from your benidorm hotels

Shopping: Benidorm offers a large number of souvenir type shops offering all the usual suspects, but if you’re after something a bit different, head for the Sunday flea market (called El Cisne-the swan in Benidorm) where you might be able to pick up all sorts of unusual bargains. For hardcore shoppers, it is best to take the train to Alicante which has a much larger town and shopping centre.

The baby boomers have made a lot of changes throughout history. It is estimated that 78 million people were born between the years of 1946 and 1964. As with everything else throughout the years they have made a huge impression on the travel industry. Traveling started to pick up as this generation began reaching adulthood. They will also take vacations to relax and get away from things even if they have to charge the whole trip to a credit card. This is some of the reasons why baby boomer travel has changed, plus the fact that they will also do things on the spur of a moment and still expect everything to be ready when they are. Baby boomers want everything to be fast and easy and they display little patients when they are not.

When baby boomers travel they look for places that offer exotic scenery and interesting sites. They are so use to traveling that it takes a lot more to make them happy than it did the previous generation. They also expect and need all the modern day accommodations to be happy. Still, they want to be able to make choices concerning their trips and how they spend their free time.
